Doggy Days Out
Doggy days out is ideal for dogs that are destructive and full of energy. If the owners work long hours or occasionally do overtime with work and so the dog/s are left alone for most of the day, this would be ideal for you.

How it works!

Dog is collected from the clients home in the morning normally between 9- 10 am, spend the day out with other dogs exercising in different parks, fields and the beach, fresh water and poo bags are provided. If you want your dog to have dinner or a treat, these need to be provided by the client. Then the dog is dropped home between 4-5pm.

Longer days can be arranged if required.

Pet Microchipping
What is a Microchip?

A tiny glass, insert capsule the size of a grain of rice containing an identification number linking you to your pet.

Where is your pet microchipped?

The micro chip is implanted at the back of the neck in between the shoulder blades. Each pet has a unique identification number that is never duplicated. Once implanted it can be scanned to find the details of the pets home and owner.

Micro chipping is for life and once micro chipped the chip cannot be removed.

If your pet is not micro chipped you will be very lucky if you ever get your pet back, with no identification how could you prove the pet is yours! By having your pet micro chipped, if it ever gets out and gets lost, by a vet or dog warden scanning your pet they will be able to identify the owner and reunite the pet back with the owner. Micro chipping is a quick pain free procedure and covers your pet for life.

All micro chips once implanted are then recorded with your pets details and the owners details and is stored on the petlog database which is part of the UK Kennel Club. If your pet is found it will be scanned, then using the unique identification code pet log will be contacted and using the database, your code will identify the owners details and youwill be reunited with your pet.

What pets do we microchip?

We micro chip the following pets:

  • Dogs/ Puppies
  • Cats/ Kittens
  • Rabbits
  • Ferrets

How old must your pet be in order to microchip?

No earlier than 8-10 weeks. If your pet is very small I would recommend 10-12 weeks instead.

Cat Grooming
Does Your Cat Need a Good Groom? Are you struggling to get the matts and knots out of your cat’s coat?

I have been working with cats for the last 12 years, my experience of cat grooming is from the understanding of cats and what they do and don’t like.

Why choose mobile cat grooming?

We will come to you to groom your cat. No need to worry about getting the cat into a cat basket
Less stress for the cat, when it can stay in its familiar surroundings.

Cats will only be clipped in extreme circumstances
We provide our mobile cat grooming service to Cardiff, Penarth, Sully, Barry, Llantrisant, Cowbridge, Bridgend, Sully, Dinas powys, Talbot Green & The Vale of Glamorgan/Surrounding Areas in South Wales.

What a regular groom involves?

Your cat will be groomed so all knots, matts and dead hair is removed and nails will be cut.

Cat grooming is for long haired cats. Your cat will be de-matted where possible by hand and only clipped when absolutely necessary on an animal welfare basis to remove matts which can not be done manually.

A Cat’s Coat

Regular brushing is important to avoid knots and matts.

Cats have a layer of dense, soft fur beneath the coarser out hairs of their coat and this coat needs to be maintained regularly to minimise the possibility of matting.

Throughout any aspect of grooming the tolerance level of the cat varies. I’m continually aware of the stress factor, making every effort to minimise trauma and distress.

Dog Walking
We can provide a dog walking service when you are unable to, we can pick your dog up and take them to the nearest walking area, where your dog will be exercised for the required amount of time and then we will safety transport your pet back home.

Let us give your dog the daily exercise he or she needs!

Away for the day?
Working late?
Unable to walk your dog because of health reasons?
Busy at work??
Does your dog get bored and destructive when left on its own

All dogs need exercise, it helps them socialise and keeps them healthy and happy. It stimulates their mind as well as their bodies. By exercising your dog it stops them getting bored and becoming destructive.

As a professional reliable dog walking service we can walk your dog/s on a regular or occasional basis. We are insured to walk up to Six dogs at any one time, but if you would prefer your dog to be walked on its own, we can also offer this service, so more time is dedicated to your pet.

We will walk your dog locally in the same area you would normally walk your dog or we can walk your dog/s in the local parks or beach.

All poop is picked up and disposed of correctly.
Dogs are normally walked in all weathers, so it’s important a towel is left out, so your dog/s can be towelled down and pet paws are cleaned to avoid muddy paw prints.

Water is replenished and food is given if requested by the owner.
Dogs are kept on leads at all times whilst walking, unless other requirements have been discussed.

We believe our prices are competitive and affordable and will match any like for like quote.

Pet Nail Clipping
Rachel’s Pet Care Services offer a nail clipping service. We can come to your home and clip your pets nails or you can bring your pet to us. If your pet is boarding with us, then we can cut their nails during the boarding period.

This will also save you a visit to the vets.

What type of pets need their nails cut?

Dogs, Cats, Rabbits & Guinea Pigs
Indoor pets that can’t go out to scratch around and wear their nails down
Older pets that don’t move around as much or exercise as much as they use to and so would need their nails cut

How often should my pets nails be cut?

I’d recommend that your pets nails are checked and cut at least every 6-8 weeks if required. Some pets nails grow quicker than others and the last thing you would want is for them to start curling, as this will cause pain for your pet and they will have trouble walking and moving around. Pets with larger nails are more capable of causing damage to your house and furniture, your pet could catch the nail and rip it off, which will cause your pet pain and will be very sore.

A Pet’s Toe Nail

A pet’s toe nail is constructed of a harder outer cover, which protects the quick, which is the inner soft part of the nail, containing blood vessels and tender nerve endings. Pets with light coloured nails, the quick can be seen as a faintly pinkish colour and is easy to avoid cutting into. Some nails that are black in colour, the quick is totally invisible and so when trimming you need to be extra careful and only a small amount should be taken away to avoid cutting the quick.

Please Note: Pets with black nails are very difficult to establish where the quick is on the nail, even though every bit of care and attention is taken to avoid cutting the quick, please don’t be offended if the quick is slightly cut as even the most professional vets can make the nails bleed as its impossible to know where the quick is.

Puppy Visits
We can visit your puppy when you are unable to, for company and stimulation.

What happens with a puppy house visit?

  • We will feed your puppy if required
  • Replenish their water
  • Take your puppy out for a walk ( once injections complete)
  • Clean up any accidents.
  • Give your puppy some company, lots of cuddles and attention when you are unable to
  • Change puppy training pads
  • Teach your puppy her beginner training commands
  • Text message and email available for puppy up dates
  • Puppy Walks

Once your puppy has had both injections, we can then take your puppy out for walks. Walks are great for socialising and teaching your puppy, as well as helping to stimulate their minds and give them the exercise they require. Puppies need much less exercise than fully grown dogs. If you over exercise a puppy you can over tire it and damage your puppies joints.

Dog and puppy walks available 7 days a week with no extra charge for weekends.

How long should your puppy be walked for?

5 minutes exercise per month of age. Up to twice a day Once fully grown they can go out for much longer.
